Boundaries

Lake Michigan to Michigan Avenue, Grand (500N) to Oak (1000N).

Description

Streeterville's is located within Chicago's Near North area. Lying between the lake and the north end of Michigan Avenue, Streeterville is urban living at its most sophisticated.  Housing consists mostly of new and vintage mid-rise and high-rise condominiums or co-ops with breathtaking views of the city and lake.

Streeterville was named after George Wellington "Cap" Streeter.  In 1866, Streeter ran his schooner aground on a sandbar in Lake Michigan, near Michigan Avenue.  Streeter stayed there and turned it into his home after being unable to dislodge the vessel. Slowly, landfill turned the lake into land and Streeter laid claim to the land.

Streeterville's cosmopolitan neighborhood is steps away to the Magnificent Mile and is home to the John Hancock Center, Water Tower, fashionable shops, four-star restaurants, luxury hotels and theaters.  The Museum of Contemporary Art and the downtown campus and medical center of Northwestern University are also neighbors.

The Magnificent Mile portion of Michigan Avenue is part of Streeterville, as is the number one tourist attraction in Chicago, Navy Pier.  Streeterville is located east of the Chicago and Grand stations of the Red line.  Streeterville's unparalleled location allows residents to walk out their door to work or play.

The zip codes for Streeterville are 60610 and 60611.
