Description

Located northwest of the Loop, Old Irving is a large area which consists of many neighborhoods; parts of Albany Park, Avondale, Irving Park, Old Irving Park and the Villa Historic District.  Known for its large historic homes and beautiful gardens Old Irving has a variety of housing, Victorian homes on 50-foot lots, vintage farmhouses, bungalows and apartment buildings, many of which have been renovated.  There are several architecturally noteworthy homes along the quiet streets in Old Irving that include Queen Ann, Victorian, Italianate and many examples of the Prairie School.

The Irving Park Historical Society holds an annual housewalk featuring interior tours of area residences showcasing a neighborhood rich with history and beauty.  Old Irving has wide array of shops, delis, bakeries, restaurants and spirited pubs. 

Old Irving also has a number of public transportation options such as the Union Pacific train stop on Avondale, CTA bus service on Cicero, Montrose and Irving Park Road, and the CTA's Blue Line runs through the middle of the neighborhood.
