Description

Edgewater consists of several neighborhoods: Andersonville, Edgewater Glen and Lakewood/Balmoral.  Edgewater is located between Uptown and Rogers Park, from Lake Michigan to Ravenswood and from Foster to Devon.  Housing in Edgewater varies from striking single-family homes, to multi-flat (3 to 6 unit) buildings, to larger courtyard buildings, to the 50 plus high-rises with spectacular lake views. 

Swedish heritage has played a big part in Edgewater; you will find the well-known Ann Sathers restaurant as well as the Swedish Bakery in the Andersonville neighborhood.  The wide streets give Edgewater a suburban feel, while the many eclectic shops and restaurants give this neighborhood the urban advantage.

There is a strong network of community organizations. Edgewater residents partake in block parties and garden walks as well as various festivals.  The accessibility to Lake Shore Drive and public transportation allow residents to get to the Loop with ease.
